What: A great reunion with lots of activities

Where:

Charleston Airport Crown Plaza Hotel

4831 Tangier Outlet Blvd

North Charleston, SC 29418

     Tel: 843-744-4422

Website: Click HERE or google "crownplaza north charleston"

Why:  It will be a GREAT event, including

-  Reminiscing and rekindling of old friendships and forging new ones

-  Hospitality Room with snacks, drinks and memorabilia

-  Sunday Night Banquet

LOTS to do and see in Charleston and surrounding area

How:

Please call, write, or email indicating your probability of attending.

Reserve your hotel room (cancellation can be made up to the day before check-in).  Don't do it on line or through the central reservation number.  Rather call 843-744-4422.  Mention K-town Reunion - code KTR for group price of $122 per night.  Note that the hotel has agreed to honor these rates for three days prior to and three days following our reunion.

Start planning your travel.  Check for deals.  I have found round-trip flights from Seattle (farthest away I could think of) for as low as $319.

Call, write, or email your friends and classmates and invite them to join us.  Look over the Alumni Contact Info list to see who might be missing.

Start collecting pictures, albums, yearbooks and other memorabilia to bring with you.

3/16/2017 - Registration is now open.  See below.

Some Details

Costs and Registration

We think we have held the cost down to a bare minimum so it shouldn't be too much of a burden.  Here they are:

$20.00 per person to cover the hospitality room including snacks and drinks as well as publicity, postage, materials, and other logistical costs.

$50.00 per person for the banquet on Sunday night.  This will include beverage, salad, dessert, gratuity and taxes.  Beer and/or wine, if desired, will be extra.

Optional tours - These might include

- Guided Bus tour of Historic Charleston with optional Historic Homes addition

- Magnolia Plantation

- Patriots Point - Aircraft carrier Yorktown, submarine Clamagore and lots more

- Fort Sumter National Monument

You can google any of the above for more information

How to register:

3/16/2017 Update:  Registration form is now available at www.kprice.com/kahs/2017registration.pdfPlease download and send to Mary Severns at the address on the form.

Hospitality Room

We will have a very nice, large hospitality room with plenty of tables and chairs, snacks and drinks.  So please bring your yearbooks, photo albums, scrapbooks and other memorabilia.  There will be a copier, a scanner, a computer, and a video projector there so we can share pictures and other materials with each other.  If you will want to get digital copies of pictures, you may wish to bring your own memory stick, writeable CD, or other media.

A Personal Note from Mary Kearns Severns

I can’t wait to welcome you to my hometown…captivating Charleston, South Carolina! Did you know it was recently named by Travel & Leisure magazine readers as the world’s top city! Here’s your opportunity to find out why!

With so many fascinating things to see and do in the Lowcountry, I strongly recommend you extend your stay if possible. The schedule below is for the “official” reunion dates, and will be updated with meeting times and locations for those who book optional tours and events. Your time is free to spend as you wish! HOWEVER…I am recommending a few of my favorite activities along with some very special events taking place around our reunion dates. These will be posted ASAP on the new K-townraiders.org website with details and prices.

If you need assistance with air transportation, car rentals, sports (e.g., golf, fishing) or visits to other convenient destinations (e.g., Savannah, Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head), please let me know.

Tentative Reunion Schedule

Friday, April 21

12:00 noon:  Welcome & Registration. The Hospitality Room will be opened as soon as possible and will remain open so long as it’s occupied.

3:00pm:   Hotel check-in. There are many comfy places to hang out until your room is ready, or you may check your bags and head across the street. There you can stop in at the North Charleston Visitors Center, North Charleston Fire Museum or shop till you drop at Tanger Outlet. Later join up with friends and take the complimentary hotel shuttle to one of the many nearby restaurants.

9:00pm:   Everyone please attend a Meet and Greet in the Hospitality Room. See who’s here, renew old friendships, make new acquaintances and generally enjoy some “K-town Kamaraderie!”

Saturday, April 22

6:00-10:00am:   Breakfast available in Sweetgrass Restaurant (not included in room rate, but pre-arranged group rate offered).

8:00am-midnight:  The NASH Express runs round-trip from the Tanger Outlet stop across the street from our hotel to the downtown Visitors Center for $3.00 each way. It takes about 30 minutes, but what a deal! It’s just a 10-15 minute drive by car and there is ample parking and parking garages. Either way, once downtown you can take advantage of the free DASH Trolley.

TBA:  Meeting times & locations for optional events booked through our Reunion Planner.

Evening:  After your day’s activities are ended, drop into the Hospitality Suite, enjoy a snack & drink, and share your experiences with others.

Sunday, April 23

Various morning times: Charleston isn’t called The Holy City for nothing! If you are interested in attending a service at one of the many historic places of worship, here is a list which includes many major faiths. Pre-plan, let us know, and we’ll get you there!

TBA:  Meeting times & locations for optional events booked through our Reunion Planner.

6:00-8:00ish: We’ll enjoy a final evening together with a Farewell Banquet at the hotel. Details will be posted on the website when finalized. What I can tell you is we’ll have a good menu and surprise entertainment! Following the festivities, we’ll adjourn to the Hospitality Suite to continue the fun.
